The David and Peggy Edmonds Baseball and Softball Training Facility officially opened on Homecoming in the fall of 2014. The facility includes dirt pitching mounds and moveable batting cages on a pristine turf surface, as well as office space for the coaching staffs.

The project was made possible by a lead gift of $500,000 by Dave Edmonds '80 and a generous donation of $100,000 by Tom Cole '72, both of whom are Kent State baseball alumni. Additionally, there were other gifts between $5,000 and $25,000 in support of the project, including generous donations from former Major League pitchers Chris Carpenter '09 and Matt Guerrier.

Directions From The North: I-71 or I-77 or I-271 to I-480 East. I-480 becomes St. Rt. 14. Stay on St. Rt. 14 into Streetsboro (Interstate map). Stay on Summit Street to the 5th traffic light, and turn right onto Campus Center Drive West. Follow around the bend and at the stop sign turn right onto Campus Center Drive. Schoonover Stadium will be on your left.

Directions From The South  |  I-71 / I-77 To I-76 East To State Rt. 43 North: Stay on St. Rt. 43 to St. Rt. 261 (less than 2 miles). Turn right onto St. Rt. 261. At the first road on the left, turn left onto Campus Center Drive. Schoonover Stadium is on your right.

Directions From The South  |  State Rt. 59 To State Rt. 261: Turn left (south) onto St. Rt. 261.
Go about 2 miles (go past the summit street light) to the intersection with Campus Center Drive. Turn right onto Campus Center Drive. Schoonover Stadium will be on your left.

Directions From The South  |  I-76 To State Rt. 43 North: Stay on St. Rt. 43 to St. Rt. 261 (less than 2 miles). Turn right onto St. Rt.261. Turn left onto Campus Center Drive. Schoonover Stadium will be on your right.

Directions From The East: Ohio Turnpike to exit 187. Take St. Rt. 14 to Streetsboro (Interstate map). Take St. Rt. 43 south to Kent (5 miles). Stay on Rt. 43 to St. Rt. 59 (Haymaker Parkway).
